One thing we love about the Houston community is how much we love to support our local businesses, and now more than ever. Our Washington apartments are surrounded by some of Houston’s best spots, whether you’re looking for the coolest ambiance in Houston, a fabulous date night, or something a little more casual and laid back. We have it all, and all within close distance.
We love being steps from Buffalo Bayou Park, minutes from downtown Houston, and close to a ton of other great parts of Houston, but it’s the food and drink that have us the most excited right now. We polled our office staff and below are 6 spots we think you should check out (please note: hours and operations may have changed during or because of COVID-19, so please call ahead to verify you can still enjoy their deliciousness!).
Local Poke, located at 4500 Washington Ave. We can’t get enough of their fresh fish and tasty menu items, all at a pretty great price, especially for Poke!
Riva's Italian, located at 1117 Missouri St. in Montrose. We love this fun and spunky ambiance, which alone makes it one of our favorite spots, but their homemade pasta is definitely worth going for a visit! The Italian classics and charmingly lit dining area are so unique and they also offer brunch.
El Rey Taqueria, located at 910 Shepherd on the corner of Washington. This Mexican and Cuban cuisine chain is a Houston staple, and their hours are tough to beat. Go here for yummy and tasty tacos with a hint of Cuban flavor. Oh yeah, their chicken tortilla soup is also delicious! They also have multiple Houston locations, so you can enjoy all throughout Houston.
Federal American Grill, located at 510 Shepherd. Try their famous and tasty Fizzy drink, which is very refreshing, especially in the summertime. If you want a snack, you can’t go wrong with the spinach and artichoke dip. This restaurant is just a block off Washington Ave and is also one of Houston’s best whiskey bars.
BB Lemon has a Washington location that is super close to our Washington apartments and this dining spot is incredibly quaint. We can’t get enough of their specialty cocktails. They are all worth trying. Be sure to check out their happy hour, aptly named Lemon Hour, which is always a good time and good excuse to try out your favorite drinks.
Rosemont, located at 2750 Branch Street. Their rooftop bar in the heart of the Montrose neighborhood boasts a vast drink menu, plus an incredibly fun vibe. They have fun drinks names like “Bubble Bath Martini,” “Capri Fun,” and “Pinky Out” to name a few.
